 How We Help
Minimize

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

  • Fires
  • Tornados
  • Heat Waves
  • Chemical Emergencies
  • Blackouts
  • Floods and Flash Floods
  • Hurricanes. In 2008, the Northwest Illinois Chapter sent 11 volunteers to Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. They witnessed images like the one below, taken in Galveston.
