The Chapter appreciates its many volunteers who teach classes, deploy to disasters and help around the office. Without all of them we would cease to exist.

 VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR
This year's volunteer award winners are Paul Ottenhausen and Betty Kraft- Hartman who also walked away with the Instructor of the Year Award.
Sandra Toerber was awarded a 50-year service pin, and Board Chair Roger Julian earned the prestigious Clara Barton Volunteer Leadership Award.
The Volunteer Leadership Award was awarded to Charles Rudolph.
We cannot forget Carol Risinger and her award for Extraordinary Personal Action by a Volunteer Award.
Spirit of Excellence Awards were given to First Lutheran Church for their financial support of the Chapter. Congratulations to everyone!

Our History: Stephenson County
On September 8, 1916, a meeting was called at the Freeport Mayor's office to prefect the organization of a local Red Cross Chapter. Through the course of the next year many pieces were put into place through various meetings leading to the following Executive officers: (You may recognize some of these names): Dr. W. J. Rideout; Miss Mattie Scott; Mr. W. F. Jungkunz; Mrs. R. B. Mitchell; Mr. J. R. Cowley; Mr. N. S. Bowler; Mrs. Watts. The Finance Committee was Col. Bowler; Mr. R. P. Eckert; Mr. A. H. Ingraham; Mr. Bidwell; others on the Board of Directors as Trustees include Dr. Allen Salter (Lena), Mr. Addison Bidwell; Mrs. B.P. Hill; Mr. Otto Wagner; Mr. L.P. Eckert; Mr. J. R. Cowley; Mr. David Graham; Mr. H. J. Leonard; Mr. Howard Swanzey (Ridott); Mr. A. J. Clarity (Lena); Mr. Fred Alberstedd (Davis); Mr. H. Graham (Rock City); Mr. S. Hooker (Pearl City); and Mrs. C. D. Knowlton. Minutes of the first annual meeting on Oct. 19, 1917, indicate the Chapter, like many in the country, was focused on aiding soldiers in World War I.
